Water Cooled Condensers

Water Cooled Condensers are widely used for condensing exhaust steam from steam turbine to reduce the turbine exhaust pressure, increasing turbine output. Widely used where water is available in abundance. Condensate is sent back to boiler. Enthalpy drop/turbine work per unit pressure drop is much greater at the low pressure end of the turbine. This increases plant efficiency and reduction in steam flow for a given output. Condensing at low pressures also helps to recover high quality feed water and reduces the cost of feed water treatment.

These circular shell type surface condensers using water as coolant have the distinct advantages of
-Less space requirement
-Easy temperature control and performance testing
-Lesser capital cost

Water cooled condensers are provided with sufficiently sized air cooling section and a hotwell.
Air removal through ejectors .
These can be supplied with condensate pumping system, level control etc. on request .
